Standing On The Deck of a North Sea Ferry
Pacific v Norfolk Martians at Victoria Park Pitch 1  Tue 29-Apr-2008 at 6pm
Won 5 Wickets

Rain, drizzle, showers & a 13 over game. How ? Why ? Was it worth it. Well at least Pacific were able to notch up a win. Allum, Korgaonkar & Purcell all took wickets with 2 step run ups. Emmins took a catch & a stumping. 52 runs needs. Purcell & Pritchard batted impeccably

At the interval, Rob Allum summed how it felt - see title.

N&C Martians Captain Graham Hall wrote afterwards "i think i would have thought about stopping the game or not starting it if it were a cup game as u only get one bight at the cherry...and also i do like to try and play cricket rather than aquaplaneball....as u know i had problems with martin berry not organising his half of the team so we aere a bit understrength but i do always try to fufill fixtures...well done with the win and for the moral booster of letting us take 2 of your wickets...as for the book i have just peeled the pages apart and will attempt to relay what i can see to you which is rather hard to read as a lot of it has gone like someone had used invisible ink or graphite in his case...sam b 22,ben hall b 2,troy b 14,aub hall b 2,bix hall b 1,tipu not out 4,graham hall...possibly stumped but not sure as i was tring to hang on to my bat as it flew out of my hand as i attempted to drive the ball through mid onish.51 all out 6 extras...only...due to my generous umpiring as i felt it only fair due to the conditions not to wide ,apart from you pete, and only the once.2nb 3w 1 bye.its not easy to see who took the wickets but there were 4 bowled 1 caught and one possibly stumping...did allum get 3 and bowler 4 get 3...what about you pete or no3 bowler...the book of course does not lie but the rain has washed clean some of the detail.Anyway we had a go and ive spent all day trying to dry my equipment...which of course is the kind of thing that can get u arrested....i swore befor i wouldnt let it get so wet again and the end of my bat has swollen again...all in all what a bllody farce but quite funny in parts...if only we could play with plastic bats and balls etc...maybe the committee could look into waterproof equip for such nights....i will put this forward at the next agm....cheeres pete and thanks for all your hard work keeping this league going...lets hope we get some more teams of the old school..were ability is ok but attendence in the pub compulsory...we used to have such a full and fun firkin time...and the quiz there was fun too...we even won it once....take care lots of love G
