Pacific v Canary Wharf Royals at Millfields Park

North East London Cricket League

Pacific turned up for their league game against a makeshift Canary Wharf side (their skipper's words) to compete in the league game knowing that the weather may not be on their side as the day progressed.

Skipper Daniel Humphrey won the toss and decided to bat first due to the pitch looking up to standard, despite the poor weather throughout the season, and with 4 spinners ready to bowl in the second innings. Tristan was pleased to be batting first and opened with Siddarth setting a nice platform with a good 73-run opening partnership with Tristan, the form player of the season, playing an unfamiliar supporting role to Sid who was finding his feet and finding the boundary with regularity.

Pacific's momentum was halted when Canary Wharf's female bowler, Sneha, snared the wicket of Sid for 46. Mark Mehta came in, with both him and Tristan being becalmed by Sneha and the slower bowlers. Tristan loosened the shackles hitting a few nice sixes down the ground to reach 50 before both him and Mehta were dismissed sparking a small collapse.

Manav showcased his batting prowess with some nice boundaries as well as some 'block and runs', proving to be an effective strategy, although it also proved to be fatal for Alex who was left well short after Manav blocked the ball straight back to the bowler yet insisted on the run. Alex was fuming, wanting to put a show in front of his wife and child. Rowan L-Gordon came in and showed that talent runs in the family with a few lusty blows getting Pacific past 200. Pacific reached 217 before a downpour of biblical proportions put an end to proceedings in the mid-innings break. Thunder, lightning, heavy rain and hail sadly put pay to what would've been an intriguing defence for Pacific.
