Sheldon rages against the dying of the light
Pacific v Washington at Wray Crescent  Sat 06-Sep-2014 at 1pm
Lost 50 runs

A depleted Pacific team dug in and did well to keep Washington to 230 despite their opener & captain pummelling sixes at will on his way to 140-odd. Late wickets from Ireland and lots of sharp fielding kept spirits high as we went into tea, a luxurious buffet of Kieran's home-made jerk chicken, plus quiche, fruit and cake.

After a poor start Pacific stabilised through the middle overs, and when Sheldon came in and hit a remarkable 50 off 17 balls the opposition looked very worried. Unfortunately Sheldon was eventually very well caught on the boundary, but not before he smashed six massive sixes (and lots more fours that would have been sixes were it not for the new boundary rules at Wray). Balls rained into the trees of Wray Close like some sort of leathery meteor shower, and an unlikely win looked on. But alas, the seventh and sadly the last Pacific wicket went with us still requiring around 50 runs.

A good display from a heavily outsourced team, played in good spirits against the chirpy but very friendly Washington.
