Pacific v Yeading at  Sun 04-May-1997
Lost by 122 runs

The 2 previous fixtures between these sides ended in draws so a limited over match would see an end to that.

Y : 193-10. Janjua 66. A Roberts 8-0-41-3
P : 71-9 (all out). F Baglivi 20. Raj 5-3-2-2

In the end the difference was Janjua with 66 but had a hotly disputed run out decision gone against him early in his innings the outcome may have differed. Contention was such that the return fixture in a fortnight could be said to be in jeopardy.

That aside Pacific with such a brittle batting line up looked even more so as 4 batsmen notched up ducks, player of the season in 96 Frank Baglivi top scored with 20 batting at number 7. Pacific's reply had staggered to a hopelessly inadequate 30-5 before Frank went in & with only respectability to head for. 55-8 was finally 71-9 all out. Raj for Yeading finished with best bowling figures of 5-3-2-2, earlier Pacific's best bowler was Allan Roberts 8-0-41-3 as he maintained his position as top of Pacific's bowlers with the best strike rate in 1996 (18 wickets @ 18.72).

The final word to Frank Baglivi "We were beaten by a combination of bad batting & some very poor decisions - it was not the mismatch it seemed had Jamjua been taken out of the equation".
