Frank has Clarendon in a spin
Pacific v Clarendon at Oakhill Park  Sat 03-May-1997
Won by 4 wkts

Since 1985 Pacific had never gone beyond 3rd May for the 1st win of the season.

C : 114-10. Webb 28. F Baglivi 5-2-5-6
P : 116-6. S Lay 32*, J Baglivi 32*. Grant 10.1- 2-19-2

Winning the toss & batting indicated a confidence from the Hertfordshire League side in this inaugural fixture & at 49-0 with Pacific's opening bowler seen off that appeared to be the case but a generous lbw decision precipitated an unexpected collapse to the 1st change bowlers - & primarily Frank Baglivi who bowled beautifully for his 6 wickets & was very unlucky to be taken off.

Frank teased & outthought the batsmen with clever flight & turn on the unseasonably dry pitch. The opener Webb with 28 top scored & Steve lay brought on the occasional bowlers as Clarendon recovered from 74-9 to 114 all out. In turn this appeared ill judged as Pacifics batsmen continued overall poor form before Steve Lay 32* & John Baglivi 32* put on an unbroken partnership of 61 to win the game for Pacific with 3.5 overs to spare having turned the game around at 55-6. Grant was statistically the best bowler for Clarendon with 2-19 off 10. A case of the opposition underestimating non league opposition.
