Demetri imposes as bowling dominates
Pacific v Washington at Alexandra Palace  Sun 09 May 1999
Lost by 32 runs
Friendly fixture

A disappointing pitch with irregular bounce was by no means ideal for this limited over showdown between Islington¹s 2 main clubs.

W: 129-9 (40 overs). P Demetri 26. J Baglivi 8-3-11-3.
P: 97-10 (34). P Attwood 36. J Taper 5-1-4-3

Opting to chase, P did exactly that as Peter Demetri imposed himself & some misfielding & missed shys left him as W¹s top scorer. John Baglivi again showed himself to be W¹s nemesis with 3 wickets but although adequate, P did not really control the bowling overall as the seamers tended to blow hot & cold.

There had been enough loose balls to make W confident that they could defend the the total & with this mind their efforts showed a greater degree of discipline. That said it was not an imposing total & there was little excuse that top scorer Paul Attwood found no one able to support him for long enough as P found themselves dismissed with a further 6 overs unspent.
