Good starts for Roberts & Murray
Pacific v Crossbats at Wray Crescent  Sat 24 Apr 1999
Won by 8 wkts
Friendly fixture

MH reports: It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce Pacific CC¹s first glorious victory of the 1999 season.

C: 160-8. R Maher 39* D Roberts 11-0-38-3 N Wilkinson 11-2-26-3
P: 162-2. D Murray 61* A Duthie 39 Rapley 6-1-20-1

C were crushed in a massive onslaught in which David Murray again proved what an asset he is to the club with a comfortable half century. P having lost the toss & being asked to field, it was not long before young Darryl Roberts had notched himself 3 wickets (the second a beauty to behold). Cracks were already beginning to appear in the C defence. In 3 hours batting they had achieved a modest 160-8 declared. The fielding was still rusty but the quality bowling & creditable catching from Adrian Duthie & Tim Mileham ensured this gettable target.

Adrian & debutante Colin Chance wasted no time in ripping into the C attack & it took a questionable lbw decision to render the opening partnership asunder, Cue David Murray. text book cutting & driving on his favourite hard wicket & before too long, P had romped home & all were on their way to the White Lion & Mortimer for Dave¹s 50 jug.²
