P's short tour of Oxford began with a fixture against local side Isis.
P 199-7 dec. B Hardisty 66. J Campbell 51. Hield 6-1-31-2
I: 198-7. Hield 63* J Campbell 7-1-31-4
Opting to bat 1st on a true pitch, Hollman (22) & Hardisty put on 62 off 10 overs for the 1st wicket. Although Wyatt bowled good outswingers & deserved an unbroken spell of 14 overs, the conditions suited the batters. Dave Murray playing his 1st game since a long term back injury, made just 1. Jonathan Campbell, on a brilliant weekend for him scored a 46-ball 1/2 century & with able support from Matt Patel (22), Hollman declared at tea with Isis requiring 200 to win in what was to be 38 overs.
The Isis openers Penhallurick (38) & Hield (63*) set off like a train as O'Grady, Lay & Roberts all disappeared at between 5 & 6 an over. The latter did later make the breakthrough bowling Penahallurick but the real turning point was when Campbell got one to rear into Hield's ribcage. 2 overs later he did it again & Hield, despite having a runner, was left with no other choice than retiring.
With the following Isis batters not off the same quality as Hield , the bowlers started to prise the game away. Williams' (24*) best efforts brought Isis within reach & with 6 needed off the last ball, the ball went to the fine leg boundary & Isis still 2 runs short of a win.
