Lahri Steps Through Room 101
Pacific v London Fields at Wray Crescent  Sat 18-Apr-2009 at 1pm
Won 9 wickets

The left / right opening partnership of Lahri Mohamed (33*) & Vincent Croft (20) outstayed the London Fields' opening salvo as the Hackneyites sought to defend their sub par 101.

It was not until the 22nd over with the score already on 77 when 7th change bowler Ben Saunder beat Croft's defence & his off stump. But by then, only 24 runs were required, 9 wickets in hand & 18 overs remaining. Jon Webley joined Lahri & saw to it that there would be no further optimism for the visitors with a quickfire 13* & as Lahri deservedly lead off the teas with 16 overs to go, Pacific couldn relax in the afterglow of a comfortable win.

Earlier, it was the bowlers lead by newcomers Naveej Vinod (4-30) & Toby Chassaud (3-8) both on debut who impressed.

despite winning the tos, Fields were never allowed to settle & were tested regularly by the accurate seam of Jon Brown & James Gleadow who made the early inroads.

Captain, Rob Bastin did not have many options beyond his 5 bwolers but none of them let him down as the guests were regularly pegged back - only left hander Paul Tessdale (43) opening solidly but failing to find any support after Jason Lord (21) was out.

The brusk East Anglian captain's post match conference picked out the team as the winner, but highlighted Naveej Vinod as MOM for his 4 wickets for 30. Here's to the rest of the season.

Stato's corner : The 22 no balls bowled by London Fields is the highest ever against Pacific beating the previous record of 19 (President's XI '96 and Chats Palace '00)
