Murray's ton not enough
Pacific v Lye at Lye FC/CC  Thu 19-Jun-1997
Lost by 5 wkts

A game reduced to 30 overs due to rain was only begun due to the good work of the ground staff & the willingness of both sides to start a game.

P : 191-4 dec. D Murray 124*, C Jones 32* A Kitchen 3-0-9-2
L : 194-5. Zafar 74*, D Murray 1-0-6-1

Pacific inserted & struggling were dug out by key batter, David Murray by making 124 not out equalled the amount of half centuries in a season (7 held by Jonathan Campbell in 1996).Although dropped twice, Murray showed a full range of his strokeplay taking full advantage of 1 short boundary & ably supported by Craig Jones (32*) & despite Carl Cook , Lye's young Captain, using 8 bowlers A.Kitchen picking up 2 wickets for 9 runs was the best return.

Peter Hollman, Pacific's tour captain gambled on bowling out his strike bowlers & Mike Alexander with 1-29 bowled better than his figures suggest. Darryl Roberts & spinners mark Bullock & David Murray all took 1 wicket each but lead by Zafar 74* he saw his side home with 3 overs to spare.
