Hollman & Attwood give Fletcher a nudge
Pacific v Broxbourne at Broxbourne Sports Club  Mon 31 May 1999
Friendly fixture

P were able to temporarily lift the gloom of Englandıs CWC exit by winning the toss here & capitalising on 7 dropped catches.

P: 247-5 dec. P Attwood 100. P Hollman 94. Barton 9-2-42-2.
B: 194-9. Spillet 52. M Holliday 4-0-30-4.

Openers Hollman (94) & Attwood (100) put on 204 for the 1st wicket - the 3rd highest ever& only 8 short of the all time highest of 211 set in 1987. Recalling Bıs fine batting talents from 1998, Captain Wilkinson held off his declaration to attain 250 which he agreed in retrospect, did not leave enough time for his bowlers to take all 10 wickets.

Bıs target was 248 in 42 overs at 5.9 per over. the climax of the Pıs innings earlier meant several wickets went cheaply but Barton in particular deserved far better than 2-42 which was still Bıs best return off the day. In trying to take the 10, Nigel did use 9 bowlers & Matt Holliday picked up his best return & Pıs on the day. Pıs fielding impressed as the attacking fields left the gaps for B to score.

Mattıs leg spin if slightly expensive therefore paid its own dividends & with the 9th wicket of Boggis falling in the penultimate over to Murray, Barton had 6 balls to see off Hollman which he did succeed in doing. Regrettably, the fixture was lost for 2000, so the record stands p5 w1 d4.
