Three from four midweek
Pacific v Old Fallopians at Victoria Park Pitch 2
Mon 10 Aug 2020 at 6pm
Won by 5 wickets
Victoria Park Community Cricket League fixture

Pacific's midweek Victoria Park team has not always been the strongest, and indeed in the last few years we've settled into the role of whipping boys - winning two games in all of last season. However, Old Fallopians 2s tend to keep us off the bottom of the table, and we made it 14 wins out of 14 against them in midweek competition last night thanks to a tight bowling performance and a steady chase.

OF's Lawrie was the best batsman on show for either side, with some delicious cut shots bisecting boundary riding Deighan and Dinsey as he raced to 40. When he was bowled by Rahul, they didn't have quite the same quality throughout the side and Colin Pollard (2-18) in particular was excellent at removing runscoring opportunities for the remaining batsmen. They finished on 121-5, which seemed a good way short of a competitive total.

In response, Pacific lost the Siddiquis early (to lose one a misfortune, two looks like carelessness) to catches off Humza, their enthusiastic opening bowler, who got good bounce off the pitch, aimed generally at the chest but got very grumpy if anyone called a no ball on him (Riz called several, but was overuled using the little known precedent that the on strike batsman should not attempt to overrule the umpire).

The chase was stabilised by Ravikrishnan (23) and taken home by Gane (28*), who were able to bat around the sheet anchor of Dinsey, who carried his bat in matching his best effort for the club, a run-a-ball 37 including three fours and 25 late cuts for one, which the opposition sportingly refused to put a man on.

PCC have now won three from four in this year's Victoria Park league, an almost unprecendented spell of success.
