The CCC held their second annual charity golf day at South Herts Golf Club on Thursday 24 October.

19 teams, mostly from cricket clubs within London & the Home Counties, participated in this event

to raise further funds for Defibrillators in cricket clubs.

We are indebted to South Herts who generously allowed us to use their course free of charge which

was very much appreciated by all the competitors, who were welcomed with coffee and breakfast

rolls from 8am.

There was a shotgun start at 9am and whilst the weather forecast did not bode well, it was very

pleasant. However, as the morning wore on rain started and became more persistent. Indeed, as

one or two teams approached the clubhouse after playing 14 or 15 holes with indifferent scores the

temptation to visit the bar proved too much.

Nevertheless, most continued and there was some excellent scoring

Both the Lords Taverners and The Lady Taverners teams finished with 87 points but were beaten

into third place by Chigwell Cricket Club with 88 points. Second were Ealing with 90 points but the

winners with an amazing score of 95 were Totteridge Cricket Club who were presented with the Cup

and their prizes.

In other competitions the Beat the Pro was won by Lesley Rose and the straightest drives by David

Lansdowne and Marion Buckle.

We were entertained at lunch by Adger Brown who is always hugely funny and with a Heads & Tails

competition we raised about £5000 for the charity.

My thanks go to all the participants and helpers and we hope to run a similar event next year.
