Soaked Through but a Face Saving 14th

20 teams rocked up at South Herts GC. A swanky golf club in Totteridge opposite Arsene Wenger’s gaff & one I’ve previously seen Frank MacLintock smacking the little white ball around (hands up if you remember him!)

A shotgun start from the 4th for Pacific as far from the club house as the eye could see & boy did the rushed coffee & bacon sarnie not want to rest but we made it

6 holes later the rain begun & unlike cricket - except Old Fallopians - we had to go on. Gloves became wet, grips wetter ground slippery control became harder except for Steve Emmins who ended up on a very creditable 35 points, Darryl & Tony scored 28 each & I held up the rear with 25. But this was a team game & my feeble contributions helped little to the cause as Steve carried our attack. In the end we scored a team total of 70 but the winners, home town boys, Totteridge Millhillians scored 95 & Ealing were 2nd with 90.

So 14th it was & we hope for a dryer & more competitive day in 2020. Cheers Pete

Dry at last
