Rampaging Roberts Routs Barbarians
Pacific v New Barbarian Weasals at Kings College Sports Ground  Sat 20 Jul 2002 at 2pm
Won by 9 Wickets
Friendly fixture

Darryl Roberts matched his career best figures of 6 for 23 as he demolished the New Barbarian Weasals top order with a display of high class swing bowling on what appeared a good batting strip.

New Barbarian Weasals 95 All Out (D Roberts 10-2-23-6, I Lay 6.1-0-15-3)

Pacific 96-1 (J Davies 37*, P Hollman 31*)

Pete leaves one

Pacific easily overcame an under strength NBW side due in the main to an excellent display of outswing bowling from Darryl Roberts which blew away the NBW top six. He was ably supported by a rapid hostile spell from Lucius Faisal – who was unlucky to not pickup any wickets - and Ian Lay - continuing his off-spinning success.

Darryl couldn't be kept out of the game – even having a hand in a run out and he took the catch to close the innings - a splendid effort at long on.

Having equalled his best ever bowling figures - he was a delighted man. "I just slowed down a little as I hadn't had too good returns recently, but I'm very happy today".

Adrian hits to leg

The batsman didn't let the bowlers down & sped past the target with only the loss of Adrian Duthie (16) - caught at point - marking NBW's only success of the day with the ball. Peter Hollman finished on 31 not out – with Jim Davies racing to an unbeaten 37.

XI: Adrian Duthie, Lucius Faisal, John Hill, Peter Hollman, Ian Lay, Matt Patel, Darryl Roberts, Tim Marshall, Lee McGowan, Paul Attwood*+, Jim Davies.
