Dearest Pacificos

We hope you're all wintering well and looking forward to the new season, which will be Pacific’s 35th!

Nets start soon, with one already booked at Middlesex's Indoor School in Finchley on 31 January. There’s also talk of sessions at the Oval, Lord’s, St Dunstan's College in Catford. And when it gets warmer come March we can go to Victoria Park and Highgate Woods.

A couple of the main developments from the boozy hours of discussion at the AGM earlier this month were that James Hogg was proposed and voted in unanimously to join the ranks of Pacific full members. So, welcome to serial LBW victim Hoggy! Another is that Aroon is handing over the treasurer role to Sharan Timbadia, who’ll be setting up a new online account so we can keep track of subs, invest in bitcoin etc etc.

A couple of other changes are that we’ll be playing some of our home games at Highgate CC in Crouch End and we’re still awaiting to hear whether we’ll be in the North East London League this season.

Also, very importantly, our very social secretary Ben Burnham wants me to call on the winners of the 10 Pin Bowling (Ben “Strike bowler” Stockton), pool (Toby “flukey af” Chasseaud) and table tennis (James “wiffwaff” Collis) to all get in contact with me or him so we can GET SOCIAL FAM before the start of the season. Ben, who WhatsApped me instructions from a nightclub in Ibiza surrounded by a gaggle of gorgeous gals, as befits a very social sec, said: “The idea is that the previous winner turns up to defend their crown, fam. They should pick a date – one on w/c 5 Feb, one w/c 26 Feb, one w/c 12 March, bruv, when they can take on all-comers.”
