Pacific v Palmerston at Away  Sun 09 Jul 2000
Friendly fixture

After an hour's delay, only 94 minutes play was possible before the rain re emerged & there was no other choice than to abandon the game.

P:68-4 A Duthie 25. Kirit 4-0-21-3

During the play that was possible, Adrian Duthie continued his rehabilitation with growing confidence before being beaten by one that turned back up the hill from Palmerston's most successful bowler - Kirit. Earlier Pacific, had lost opener Ben Hardisty for a duck but a 47 run partnership between Duthie & Jonathan Campbell (20), set the innings up. Both batters having seen off the lively Parmaz who conceded just 16 runs in his opening spell of 10 overs.

However, Campbell's stumping & the premature demise of Steve Emmins who inside edged , again to Kirit, saw the Pacific innings reach a period of consolidation via Hollman (9*) & Ian Lay (1*) .

The rain had become harder & as the bowlers were losing their footing, it was agreed to take an early tea. The match was abandoned soon afterwards as the rain continued to become heavier with the game still tantalisingly poised.

Opening bowler Mike Alexander said afterwards "Unbeaten against Palmerston this season (the return game was also a draw), is a good return for us, but with the side that we had out today, we could well have gone that extra step"
