A magnificent Pacific victory on Saturday against Highgate Taverners at a Wray Crescent bathed in October sunshine for the most part.
Numerous contributions with the bat in our 222 off 40 included a Hollman 50, a Sharma 44, 30s from Stockton and Mullens and a nice knock from skipper Chasseaud.
After a series of tough defeats at Wray in recent weeks, the parsimony and penetration of the Pacific attack was most pleasing. Led by James Gleadow, whose 8 over spell of 2 for 18 set the tone for the day. Nugget blended his unerring accuracy with cutters and short balls perplexing the Taverners.
Sam Howes bowled his best spell of the season for Pacific with a four fer, getting appreciable turn and bounce at a perplexing pace for the batters.
Sumeet Sharma 'chameleon' took off the gloves to bowl a short spell of brisk pace. His fast armed Yorker accounted for one bat and his safe hands in the field two more as Ahmed Hussain got his just desserts for a lengthy spell of umpiring by cleaning up the tail for a 3fer. With 29 season wickets this is the A Bomb's most successful for Pacific.
Stockton and Davis also bowled good spells and were supported in the field by all.
Several beers were enjoyed in the WB Yeats after, including good chat with the Taverners.
