I write to you with news of a classy, proactive performance to gain our first league victory of the year at Hadley Wood Green. A second ton of the season for Toby Chasseaud (overtaking Darren Tempany's 110 career sixes in the process), with sterling support from Sumeet Sharma (65) and a debut Pacific 50 for George Moses batting in borrowed trousers, allowed us to accrue a quickfire 235.
With plenty of time to bowl the typically adhesive HWG out thanks to the early declaration, spinners Hussain and Mullens opened the bowling with the old ball and prised out three early wickets between them. Seamers Smith, Chowdhury, with good back-up from Woodland, Chasseaud, allied to some great ground fielding from Stockton and Duncan allowed Pacific to close the deal with six overs to spare.
The news of the day was Ahmed Hussain collecting his 100th Pacific wicket with a classic legbreak which pitched, spun and hit the top of off. He celebrated by buying a jug of beer and several packets of Quavers. Classy stuff and we look forward to the next 100 – particularly if it means more Quavers.
