Unfortunately a Pacific XI put into bat by Hadley Wood Green fell apart to 46 all out - they knocked off the runs for the loss of one wicket. A difficult afternoon.
With apologies for the dissection, but a glance at the Pacific Stats suggests that this is our 8th lowest total ever and only the second time since the turn of the millennium that we have failed to make 50. Most of our historic low scores came in the earlier years of the club's existence, though in June 2002 we were bowled out for 43 away at Harrow St Mary. Our lowest total ever came in August 1984 when we were bowled out for 31 away by Caroline (who they!?). Our total against Hadley Wood Green at Alexandra Park is our second lowest in a home match. In July 1987 we made 40 against Chandos (when we were playing at Tufnell Park).
So now we've got this season's batting collapse out of the way surely things can only get better.
And here's a note from Pacific archivist Steve Lay after his recent move to Scotland:
"Most of the old scorebooks are still sealed up in a cardboard box, but I've about half a dozen on a shelf near our PC. I picked up the top one and it said 1987. The first match inside is the Chandos game. Spooky. It was at Tufnell Park and we didn't have that bad a side out. We did manage to get four of their wickets before they passed our total."
