Sheldon superstar
Pacific v London Fields at Wray Crescent
Fri 18 Apr 2014 at 1pm
Won 78 runs
Friendly fixture

Pah to the purists with their manicured outfields, pristine wickets etc.  This was a triumph for cricket lovers.  An initially overcast and chilly Wray later basked in a wonderful sunshine filled evening.  Fields were supremely good natured and competitve and friendly opponets.

Fields won won the toss and chose to field.  Skip Ben and Jon Thornton produced a sterling opening partnership of 70 to set us up nicely.  Webley was undone for 0 by a change of ball (apparently).  Jack flourished on debut to make a fine fifty at better than a run a ball (including demolishing the previously unplayable Utz).  After that the innings subsided to a close with only Sheldon's exaggerated early movement forward proving successful at resisting the Fields leg spinner.

A good tea was munched.

Friend gave Fields his usual ferocious start (at poor Croft's expense) but the Nuggsy metronome and Satish's hostility backed by some fine fielding slowed the scoring to create scoreboard pressure. Jack took a fine low and crucial catch at point to remove Friend.  Sheldon replaced Satish and bowled with such athleticism and dynamism that it was a real treat to watch. As was his fielding where he produced some fine saves, one great catch at fine leg (and one tough chance dropped) and the most outrageous pickpocketing of a catch from Paul at midwicket off his own bowling.  Webley pocketed a couple of wickets.
