Venerable hosts Thames Ditton ebtertained eleven Pacificsts on a beautiful sunny Sunday in the lush green surrounding’s of the capital’s south west. A tight bowling performance, particularly from man-on-fire Jon Webley, was supported well in the field, with an honourable mention for Stuart Hopper, who snatched a one-handed half-chance at mid wicket. Pacific’s batting, however, could not match the Islington men’s prowess with the ball, and not even Nuggsy's typically stoic last wicket stand was enough to stop our boys snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Interesting to note that there was more than one batsman run out, a recurring theme on our visits to Ditt.
A lovely tea, news of the England victory at Lords and a few pints of lager thankfully helped take the edge off the bitter taste of unnecessary defeat.
