Richards leads run fest
Pacific v Highgate at Highgate CC  Mon 25-Apr-2011 at 2pm
Won 5 wickets

Pacific lost the toss on a hot bank holiday Monday and were made to bowl.  Despite having as strong attack as we will have this season the ball disappeared repeatedly and rapidly over the billiard table outfield to the short boundaries.  Too many full tosses were served up.  Webley bowled very well for three wickets (and a three foot wide down leg side when he had a chance of a hatrick) and Smith also brought some control before Holly decided to clear the trees repeatedly. Aroon bowled a beauty and took a smart return catch to get the opener who got 92.

The chase was given a fast and good platform by Pete and Lahrie but Jon was out for one in front of his watching parents.  Steve and Ali built a great partnership and Steve chipped to leg and drove over extra cover superbly before understandably tiring and giving a few chances that were thankfully spurned before getting to his hundred. Ali and Oli supported Steve very well and Lucius thumped the winning runs.  The oppo could not question our sportingness as three lbws were given (although the batsmen were left questioning the umpires sanity).

Well done to Steve on his maiden ton for the club - and for the jug that was heartily consumed.

2nd highest successful chase in our history but the main wonder is that other than that the match won't register many times in the records.

Steve scored his first 42 all in boundaries - 9 fours, 1 six
