Smith and Korgaonkar foil Hadley Wood resistance
Pacific v Hadley Wood Green at Botany Bay CC  Sun 26-Jun-2011 at 1.30pm
Won 65 runs

Nuggsy top scored .... but despite this worrying statistic Pacific's ten won. Skipper Jon lost the toss on a baking hot day at the lovely Botany Bay ground.  Fortunately the opposition decided to field!

Unfortunately the top order misfired - Jon and Steve got good balls, James Smith gave fine leg catching practice via the back of his bat, debutant Karl used his feet well against the spinners until stumped and Jon Brown was bowled of his pads by a big off break.  Enter Nuggsy and inspired by Toby's innings the previous day he marshalled the tail to tick off the batting point totals.  Aroon, Martin and Tony all batted very well.  Matt eventually arrived just in time to help Nuggsy register a maiden fifty for the club.

A hearty tea was consumed by two baked sets of players.

The Wood chase got off to a good start as the seamers struggled to find their lengths and at 63/0 they were going well.  Skip Jon turned to spin and was rewarded with 5 quick wickets.  Nuggsy and Holliday combined to run out the doughty left handed opener.  Tony removed the hard hitting right hander when he slapped a leg break to Jon at cover.  Aroon then spun his web supremely well to take four wickets.  Alexander, who appeared to be a ringer for the oppo, looked dangerous but Smith got him to hole out to mid off.  It then became a matter of could we bowl out the Wood.  Smith was for once backed by some catching and got them 9 down.  Off the first ball of the penultimate over the Wood batsmen strangely decided to go for two off a flick to the vacant mid wicket area -the skip chased, picked up, turned and threw to hit the one stump he could see on the full from thirty yards sparking pandemomium as a sun roasted Pacific side celebrated.
