Extras Star
Pacific v London Fields at Wray Crescent
Sat 22 May 2010 at 1pm
Lost 11 runs
Friendly fixture

An agonising defeat on a superb cloudless day. Webley tossed due to skipper Smith being late but lost the toss. London Fields opted to bat. The seamers bowled well but after Webbo took a very smart catch in the gully to remove an opener the second wicket partnership progressed to 112/1 at drinks. After drinks Pacific lifted a level and came back into the game. A pedestrian was struck in the chest by a six off Barnard just the other side of the Smith Gate. Barnard got his first wicket for the club at the end.

Pacific's chase hurtled along but wickets fell regularly and Pacific fell to 116/7 at drinks. One bowler bowled 14 extras in his opening over and Pacific would benefit to a record equalling 71 extras including record 54 wides. At 140/9 the game looked done and dusted but a gritty last wicket stand benefiting from a generous helping of extras had Fields worried. Unfortunately Gleadow failed to respond to Smith's call quickly enough and was run out by a direct hit from mid-wicket.

LF Captain Chris Skinner said "A quick note to say thanks to your lads for a good game yesterday. Really close, played in good spirit and one of those games that everyone got involved. See you all soon, Chris"
