Pacific were comprehensively outplayed by a boisterous Village XI. Injudicious top order dismissals lead to Pacific limping through forty overs. Smith and the tail played out the overs but couldnt find a meaningful partnership. 116 for 9 was an extremely sub-par score for Wray. The only highlight being the first known attempt at the Dil Scoop from a particularly keen junior player.
After an excellent warm tea, Village had no problem reaching their small target in half the allotted balls. Pacific rotated the bowlers but were unable to contain the batsmen who all had license to swing the bat much to the enjoyment of their watching colleagues.
Smith commented after the match "The lads tried hard but were behind the game from the start. It was a cold wet miserable day and I'm chuffed the boys stuck at it with only ten men. Special mention to Justin Roy for taking over the keepers gloves for the first time - he looked an absolute natural before tweaking an old injury. We really need to get more people out for these weekend games so please contact the secretary to get involved."
