Out When The Music Stops
Pacific v Sunbury Chieftains at Kenton Court Meadow  Sat 18 Sep 2010 at 12.30pm
Lost 7 runs
Friendly fixture

The Lords Taverners v Test Match Sofas was going on on the top square inlcuding such notaries as Angus Fraser, Toby Roland-Jones, John Simpson & from Sky, Mike Wederburn. All these celebs meant that the PA emanated non stop commentary & music throughout.

So Pacific's slide to defeat began when their match ended & the music stopped as Jon Webley, the game's only half-centurian, was out bowled by the game's outstanding bowler Nichols. A medium to quick left armer who swung the ball in & seamed it away prodigiously - his 5 wickets won the game almost single handedly.

Pacific's 1st wicket stand between Steve Richards (rtd hurt) Webley & Hollman was good for 121 but the music stopped, the collapse despite some middle defiance from Allum, Bastin & Tempany, floundered & when Allum was out needing 8 off 4 balls, the game plan changed to THE youngster playing out 3 balls for the draw. caught betwixt & between what to do he was out stumped 1st ball. A sad ending really as he'd been the pick of the bowlers along with Justin Hess who earlier bowled with pace & discipline.
