Allum the key for Chigwell
Pacific v Chigwell at Wray Crescent  Sun 26-Apr-2009 at 1pm
Drawn

Led by the familiar face of Rob Allum, Chigwell won the toss and elected to bowl. After a shaky start by the openers, Pacific's middle order all contributed valuable runs thanks to the in-form Jon Webley (46), left-hander Justin Roy (26) and the giant Darren Tempany (36 off just 17 balls). Kurt Rademaker top-scored with a run-a-ball 66 not out, with support from Aroon Korgaonkar (10), taking the score to 251-8. Extras were second top-scorer with 59, but unfortunately did not buy a jug.

In Chigwell's response, Pacific took wickets steadily with James Gleadow (4-33) the pick of the bowlers while Howard Russell, Shahid Khan, Korgaonkar, Toby Chasseaud and Rademaker took one wicket each.

Allum played a captain's innings - and made the most of being dropped twice - before being caught at long-off on 101. He lacked support at the other end though. In the final 10 overs, the match could have gone any of three ways, but when Allum fell the tail batted out stubbornly for a draw. Despite having fielders crowded close around the bat, Pacific could not take the final wicket - perhaps because No 11 said he would be gang-raped in the changing room if he got out.

For some reason the players all went to the White Lion of Mortimer after the match - except for Toby who went to The Larrik by accident. The oppo have requested a time game.

XI:- Rob Bastin + *, James Gleadow (vc), Kurt Rademaker, Darren Tempany, Jon Webley, Vincent Croft, Aroon Korgaonkar, Justin Roy, Shahid Khan, Toby Chasseaud, Howard Russell

Reserves : Phil Hancock, Parinda K, David Morahan
