Turin Brakes lead the way
Pacific v Hackney Grasshoppers at Wray Crescent  Thu 10 May 2001 at 6pm
Won by 45 runs
Victoria Park Community Cricket League fixture

Pacific consolidated their place at joint top of div 2 following a forfeit & a no result, by finally getting their season off the (soggy) ground as warm balmy weather finally reached this side of Finsbury Park.

P 146-5 (16 overs)
G 101-7 (11.5)

An opening partnership of 69 between Steve Lay & Matthew Ralph in 6 overs set the pace before stand in Captain Rob Allum, restricted to a batting only role due to a shoulder injury, top scored with 53 before being run out. 2000 season leading wicket taker Rob was delighted to get the season off with a win although all he kept saying afterwards was "tomorrow night 7.30pm Top of the Pops" where he appears for the 1st time with his band Turin Brakes, - understandably he was preoccupied. But not enough to prevent him getting the best out of his bowlers, Mike Alexander, off a shorter run, & Lucius Faisal who was superb shared 4 wickets between them leaving G reeling at 26-4, before Johnny Owen with 40 took G to respectability before himself being bowled by Wright as the light faded.

Pacific: S Lay+, M Ralph, R Allum* , D Murray, L Faisal, M Alexander, N Wright, H Patel
